Preprint Policy

Policy Statement
The International Journal of Research on Multidisciplinary Studies (IJROMS) supports the dissemination of research through preprint platforms while maintaining the integrity of the peer review and publication process. The journal allows the submission of manuscripts that have been previously posted as preprints, provided that transparency and proper disclosure are ensured.

Definition of Preprint
A preprint is a version of a scholarly manuscript that is shared publicly on a recognized preprint server prior to formal peer review and publication in a journal.

Policy on Submission of Preprints

IJROMS accepts submissions of manuscripts that have been previously posted as preprints under the following conditions:

  • The preprint must not have undergone formal peer review or publication in another journal
  • Authors must disclose the existence of the preprint at the time of submission
  • The preprint must be clearly identified and accessible

Submission to IJROMS implies that the manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, regardless of preprint posting.

Author Responsibilities

Authors who have posted their work as a preprint must:

  • Provide the DOI or URL of the preprint during submission
  • Ensure that the preprint record is updated to reflect submission to IJROMS
  • Update the preprint with a citation and link to the final published version once accepted
  • Ensure that the content submitted to the journal is consistent with the preprint version

Peer Review and Editorial Process

Manuscripts previously posted as preprints will undergo the same double-blind peer review process as all other submissions.

Editors and reviewers will:

  • Evaluate the manuscript based solely on academic merit
  • Maintain objectivity regardless of preprint availability
  • Ensure confidentiality throughout the review process

Citation of Preprints

Authors may cite preprints in their manuscripts provided that:

  • The preprint is clearly identified as not peer-reviewed
  • The citation includes the DOI or permanent link
  • Proper academic citation standards are followed

Posting After Submission

Authors are permitted to:

  • Share the submitted version (preprint) on recognized repositories
  • Update the preprint during the review process with transparency

However, authors must not:

  • Submit the manuscript to another journal simultaneously
  • Misrepresent the publication status of the manuscript

Accepted Manuscripts and Version Control

Upon acceptance and publication:

  • Authors must update the preprint record to include a full citation to the IJROMS publication
  • The final published version (Version of Record) is considered the authoritative version
  • Any differences between the preprint and published version must be clearly acknowledged if necessary

Restrictions

Preprints must not:

  • Violate copyright or licensing agreements
  • Contain confidential, sensitive, or unethical content
  • Be used to circumvent ethical publishing standards

IJROMS supports open science initiatives and recognizes the value of preprints in accelerating knowledge dissemination. The journal ensures that the use of preprints does not compromise the quality, integrity, and credibility of the scholarly publication process.
