Policy Statement
The International Journal of Research on Multidisciplinary Studies (IJROMS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in scholarly publishing. The journal strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism and ensures that all submitted manuscripts are original works of the authors.
Plagiarism in any form is considered unethical and unacceptable in academic publishing.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the use of another person’s ideas, words, data, figures, or intellectual property without proper acknowledgment or permission. This includes:
- Copying text from published or unpublished sources without citation
- Paraphrasing ideas without proper attribution
- Using data, figures, or tables without permission or acknowledgment
- Self-plagiarism (reusing one’s own previously published work without disclosure)
- Submitting work written by others as one’s own
Plagiarism Screening Process
All submitted manuscripts to IJROMS undergo plagiarism screening using reliable detection tools prior to peer review. In addition:
- Manuscripts are checked during initial screening
- Additional checks may be conducted during revision and before publication
- References and citations are also reviewed for accuracy and completeness
Acceptable Similarity Index
- IJROMS maintains an acceptable similarity threshold of 20% or below
- Higher similarity may be allowed only if properly cited and justified (e.g., methodology descriptions, technical terms, or references)
- Manuscripts exceeding acceptable similarity levels may be returned for revision or rejected
Handling of Plagiarism Cases
If plagiarism is detected, the journal will take appropriate action depending on severity:
Minor Similarity Issues
- Returned to authors for revision and proper citation
Moderate Plagiarism
- Manuscript may be rejected or require major revision
Severe Plagiarism
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript
- Possible ban on future submissions
- Notification to relevant institutions if necessary
Published Articles
- Retraction of the article if plagiarism is discovered after publication
Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
- Ensure originality of all submitted work
- Properly cite all sources and references used in the manuscript
- Obtain permission for any copyrighted material used
- Avoid all forms of academic dishonesty
Authors are fully responsible for the content of their submissions.
Reviewer and Editorial Responsibilities
Reviewers and editors are responsible for:
- Identifying possible plagiarism during the review process
- Reporting suspected cases to the Editorial Board
- Ensuring fair and confidential handling of all manuscripts
- Supporting the integrity of the publication process
Consequences of Plagiarism
Plagiarism may result in:
- Rejection of the manuscript at any stage
- Retraction of published articles
- Suspension or ban from future submissions
- Notification of the author’s institution or funding body
